We’re supporting National Children’s Day on 15th May 2016 by raising awareness of the day in our local area. The theme for this year is ‘mindful heartful childhood,’ with a particular emphasis on the ’emotional maturity and wellbeing of the key adults in children’s lives’ – ‘Happy Parent, Happy Child.’
National Children’s Day UK is an initiative of the Save Childhood Movement. The movement was established in 2013 and consists of a growing collaboration of individuals and organisations that share a deep concern about societal values and wellbeing and the current erosion of natural childhood.
The first NCDUK took place in May 2014 and highlighted Children’s need to connect with Nature. NCDUK2015 explored ‘The Science and Magic of Play’ with more than 250 events and activities taking place throughout the UK – and an estimated audience reach of 300,000+ adults and children. Very pleased to be sharing information about National Gardening Week once again. The theme for this year is ‘Get Fit in the Garden’. The aim is to demonstrate how gardening can have a positive impact on our mental and physical well-being. Things to do during the week can be found by clicking on the link for activity suggestions.
If you don’t have a garden how about creating a window garden? We were given this lovely idea from Sainsbury’s Bank.
