In support of literacy

Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 13.20.11Today is International Literacy Day  a date dedicated to celebrating the ‘joy of reading’ as well as raising awareness of illiteracy and the impact it has on individual life chances. Getting involved is easy, spread the word in your communities by becoming a literacy champion, organise an event to fundraise for books, gift or donate a book, or spread the word online. Click here to access a full list of ideas for events and other awareness raising activities.

If a day of celebrating is not enough for you – you can always get involved with Literacy Week organised by the European Literacy Policy Network (ELINET) which also starts today and ends on 17th September 2015. We’ll be raising awareness via our pop ups and online with new reading suggestions and activities. Get in touch for help with books or resources, let us know what you’ve done or are planning to do celebrate. Most of all have fun!
